Some disabilaities are not visible to the human eye and on the outside, children appear the same. But everyone’s brain is wired differently giving rise to unique strengths and challenges. Up to 30% of children are starting mainstream school in the UK with limited spoken language skills which will impact on their attention, listening, literacy and social interaction and each child’s brain will be affected in different ways. The unique interaction between the child’s environment and his individual brain wiring will have many different behavioural manifestations and some children may have low self esteem, lack confidence, be quiet, shy or disengaged or have challenging behaviours due to lack of awareness of their difficulties.
