Pro Futuro – Dyslexia & Learning Difficulty Associations and Organization

In 2006, Pro Futuro formed a dyslexia support group with the kind support of the Baltic American Partnership. Our goal was and is to provide support to those people with reading and writing disorders, to promote modern reading instruction and support the availability of accommodation and assistance in Latvian comprehensive schools. Pro Futuro was the lead organization in creating the first regulations requiring accommodation on state level examinations for students with dyslexia. We use a variety of projects and forums to promote the experience of other countries in education for people with learning disabilities, and to drive changes in the Latvian education system. Ultimately we want a system that celebrates and assists, rather than marginalizes young people with reading and or writing problems.
